ELTON JOHN SAYS GOODBYE TO HIS LIFE ON THE ROAD

APRIL 19TH, 2018

Elton John began his musical career in 1963 and has been releasing music and going on tours all around the world for decades. Early this year he released the news that he will be embarking on his final tour.

The tour will be a 3-year long tour. The tour will begin in Pennsylvania in September 2018, and will visit 10 cities across the UK in 2020. The "Farewell Yellow Brick Road" Tour kicks off with its American leg, which begins Sept. 8 in Allentown, Penn., and continues through March 15, 2019 in Jacksonville, Fla.  John also announced May and June 2019 dates for Europe. The European tour will extend through 2020, an Asian tour will occur in Nov. and Dec. 2019, a South American tour will take place in 2020, and an Australian and New Zealand tour is set for late 2019 and early 2020.

Elton John said in an interview with CNN "I thought the time is right to say thank you to all my fans and say goodbye."

The reason he is doing this farewell tour is because after he and his husband had kids, Elton realized the reality of how much time his music and touring is taking away from his kids growing up into young adults. He is the third most successful Billboard Hot 100 artist of all time, according to the magazine's tally of sales for music released between 1958 and 2015.

Elton John sold out the first 60 shows in hours, and is one of the top-selling solo artists of all time, with 38 gold records and 31 platinum and multi-platinum albums, more than 50 Top 40 hits, and more than 300 million records sold worldwide.

John mentioned in another interview that his focus has changed, stating “my priorities in my life are now my children, my husband and my family,” “so goodbye yellow brick road.”
