The scorps managed a win over Agua Fria high school on baseball tuesday afternoon on the varsity field. This win is crucial for the JV team and has given life and support back into the team.

Gavin Garcia opened the game for DE, giving up only six runs with may strike outs. When Garcia elevated his pitch count he was replaced by third baseman Braxton Matteson,  who closed the game to seal the win.

Agua Fria placed three pitchers through the entire game but we kept the bats warm and swinging, bringing in twenty-one runs before the game was over.

The team stats have been improved, with the batting average at a solid .209, On base percentage of .355, runs counted at forty-eight total, and forty-nine and counting hits. The boys will continue their season by playing Agua fria again on Thursday, April 12th.

Braxton Matteson, pitcher and third baseman, speaks for the team after the win: “I really like the way this team is coming together and the way we work on the field. Our outfield is basically a vacuum and our infield is a competitive group of players.” Matteson has recently been appointed to the new team captain for sophomores, along with Payson Neville for Juniors on the team. The duo has been helping the team as a whole work better together and it’s been paying off.
